This lot, cultivated in the Los Pinos farm in Santa Barbara at elevations between 1900 and 2250 masl, is overseen by Elmer López from Vides58. The region experiences temperatures ranging from 12° to 24° C, humidity of 60-70%, and an average rainfall of 1550 mm. The coffee varieties grown here are Caturra and San Ramon, and the harvesting period spans from January to May.
The coffee is processed as a washed coffee, with the initial step involving manual selective picking of only ripe cherries. These cherries are then depulped manually and placed in fermentation tanks for approximately 24 hours before being spread on patios to dry for up to 12 days. Once the coffee reaches the correct humidity range, it is bagged and stored in warehouses, ready for global shipment.
The Vides story began in 1958 when Don Jorge Vides Molina founded Finca La Bolsa as a passion project. The family now operates six farms in Huehuetenango and owns a state-of-the-art cupping lab in Guatemala City. Their dedication to producing top-quality coffee has been recognized with numerous awards, including a Cup of Excellence in 2002.
